Wage magistrates to ensure minimum wage compliance, says CM Gandapur

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, commemorated International Labour Day by announcing significant measures to support laborers across the province. Notably, he declared a doubling of assistance packages provided by the provincial government, citing a substantial increase in revenue for the provincial labor department.

In a bid to ensure fair treatment and adherence to labor laws, Gandapur pledged to appoint wage magistrates tasked with enforcing minimum wage regulations. He stressed the importance of salary transfers through bank accounts, advocating for robust monitoring mechanisms to safeguard laborers’ rights effectively.

During a ceremony held in Peshawar, the chief minister digitally transferred Rs177.5 million for the education expenses of laborers’ children. This initiative is expected to benefit over 22,000 students, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting laborer families in accessing education.

Furthermore, Gandapur emphasized the urgency of expediting the handover of 2,056 residential flats constructed for laborers in Peshawar. He insisted on transparency in the distribution process, ensuring that deserving individuals receive housing accommodations promptly.

Recognizing the pivotal role of laborers in national development, Gandapur expressed his dedication to addressing their concerns comprehensively. He assured stakeholders, including labor representatives, of the government’s commitment to safeguarding labor rights through legislative reforms and proactive measures against exploitation.

Highlighting the government’s broader economic agenda, the Chief Minister reiterated the importance of facilitating business growth in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He emphasized the government’s efforts to attract investors by providing favorable conditions and incentives. Plans are underway to offer locally generated electricity to industries at affordable rates, thereby stimulating job creation and benefiting laborers across the province.

Gandapur reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises and prioritizing the welfare and prosperity of the labor class in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Through concerted efforts and meaningful reforms, the government aims to create a conducive environment for laborers to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the province’s socio-economic development.
