Have only Allah to thank for my good looks: Imran Abbas

The actor downplayed the importance of appearance and said he would rather be remembered as a good human being

It is no secret that actor and model Imran Abbas defines eye candy in a way that his male cohorts can only dream of. With his artful stubble, dark hair, and eagle eyebrows set atop piercing light eyes, rivalling Tom Cruise of the 90s, Imran’s looks may well have been the reason he was able to hop across the border and rack up a Bollywood movie (Creature 3D, anyone?) under his belt.

However, if former cricketer and now television host Ramiz Raja can be believed, it is not just Imran’s male cohorts who yearn to achieve his level of eye candy; apparently, even women co-stars are reduced to fits of jealousy over the Alvida star’s looks. With Imran a guest on Ramiz’s show Showtime with Ramiz Raja, the latter put the actor on the spot and declared, “I've heard that heroines are insecure around you because you are so much better looking!”

Imran, however, was having none of it. Demurely batting away the compliment, the star laughed and said, “That is an exaggeration, and not the case at all. I’ve never felt that. All the women I’ve worked with have been beautiful!”

Brushing aside Imran’s modesty, Ramiz reminded the actor that he had been the only Pakistani to appear on the TC Candler list of ‘100 Most Handsome Faces”. Indeed, Imran has featured on the list no less than four times, beating out notable names such as Shahid Kapoor, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dwayne Johnson, and Daniel Radcliffe. Not rising to the bait, Imran maintained, “None of that is important. Things like looks are all gifted by Allah.” Downplaying the importance of a top-notch appearance, even if he does hail from the showbiz industry, the actor noted, “I will be much happier when people say I’m a good human being!”

In addition to being a seriously good-looking actor, Imran can boast about being an architect, having had flying lessons, and being a classically trained singer. He began his modelling career at age 20 and made his television debut in 2003 in Umrao Jaan Ada. Since then, Imran has carved a firm place for himself in the world of showbiz, making a string of regular film and television appearances. The actor notched up his first Bollywood role in 2014 opposite Bipasha Basu, and was most recently seen on home ground in Tumharey Husn Kay Naam
