Vawda urges more clarity to lay Justice Sattar controversy to rest
Senator Faisal Vawda has vehemently condemned the vilification of IHC’s Justice Babar Sattar, saying that any slanderous campaign against an individual is intolerable.
However, he stressed that it was incumbent on the judge and the high court to clear the air.
Speaking on the Express News show 'Kal Tak', the former PTI leader said that such allegations should cease immediately.
While acknowledging that the IHC's attempt to clarify the situation only added to the confusion, Vawda asserted that he was among the first to demand clarification to halt the malicious campaign. However, he lamented that the clarification itself has only added to the ambiguity.
Vawda urged for an end to the smear campaign but also raised concerns about the handling of Justice Babar Sattar's financial records. He questioned whether the absence of written documentation regarding his financial matters, if indeed true, raised doubts not only about Justice Babar but also about the former IHC chief justice Athar Minallah.
He remarked, "If it was verbal and not written, then there are two aspects to consider. One aspect is whether the chief justice and Justice Babar Sattar both discussed it verbally and if so, was it negligence? If such negligence exists, what implications will it have on ongoing cases?"
"The other aspect is if the first scenario is not accurate, then was it facilitation? This needs clarification, especially considering there are judgements on this by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa's judgment," he insisted.
