After a useful strategy developed by the SIFC and the successful launch of National Incubation Centres (NICs), local emerging startups have been encouraging foreign information technology companies to make investment in Pakistan.
In line with such efforts, a European company has planned to make a handsome investment by establishing a data centre in Karachi.
Strenuous efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and a strong network of NICs have built trust of foreign countries, especially the foreign IT companies, in IT and other sectors of Pakistan, as they are planning to spread their businesses gradually because of a lot of potential as well as trained youth and emerging opportunities.
Icewarp, a software company from the Czech Republic, has planned to launch its data centre in Karachi in collaboration with a Pakistani software company, Hexalyze, with a handsome investment.
“It sounds well that a European company has decided to make investment in the data centre in Pakistan and it will launch a delivery centre here; this is an encouraging initiative that a foreign company which is providing many services has come to invest here,” Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Chairman Mohammad Zohaib Khan said while speaking as the chief guest at a programme held on Tuesday.
Icewarp Global Chief Sales Officer Jan Urbik said, “Pakistan has a high potential with digital transformation taking place in public sector entities as well as private businesses. We at Icewarp will support Pakistan in its mission to adopt digitalisation through affordable solutions.”
“Our company will set up a data centre in Pakistan in compliance with local regulations to keep the data and privacy of citizens within the borders. Besides, Icewarp will offer solutions that are 60% cost-effective than other software companies, along with enhanced applications and cybersecurity features that will attract a number of industries, financial institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups to use our services,” he said.
Hexalyze CEO Syed Saad Ali said, “The cost-effective corporate email solutions will enable hundreds of companies in Pakistan to adopt this tech-based solution in their businesses for the first time. On the other hand, corporate customers could not only save their money from the expenses of enterprise services, but these companies will also save precious foreign exchange for the country by paying less to the service provider.”
He said Icewarp in collaboration with Hexalyze was setting up its regional office in Pakistan. The Czech-based software company will expand its operations in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with separate data centres in these countries while Pakistani office will serve as a back-up support station for marketing and sales.
