Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the health, welfare and safety of every worker in the province.
In her message on the World Day of Safety and Health at Workplace, she stated, ”The purpose of celebrating Occupational Safety Day is to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for workers at workplace.”
The chief minister said, ”Workers’ safety comes first. We would make sure they get home safely every day.”
She highlighted, ”The Punjab government has already started an occupational safety campaign in collaboration with private institutions.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, ”Awareness of workplace safety culture is essential in factories, offices, construction sites and farms.”
She added, ”Accidents can be prevented through the implementation of safety act and training.”
The chief minister explained, ”Labour laws are being amended and companies that do not care about the health and safety of employees will be fined.”
She vowed, ”Occupational safety is responsibility of the government and its implementation will be ensured.”
Maryam Nawaz Sharif impressed upon the employers to ensure workers' safety and a healthy working environment.
She said, ”Employees’ safety is also the responsibility of every organisation. They should pay attention to the safety gear of the workers.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of senior politician Afzal Tarar.
The CM expressed her heartfelt sympathy and condolence with the daughter of the deceased, Saira Afzal Tarar.
She said, “Afzal Tarar was a close, trustworthy and loyal companion of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and my affectionate elder as well. His death is a profound shock for all of us. May it be the reign of dictatorship, any political struggle or tenure of a government, Afzal Tarar remained steadfast with the party on the path of truth like a staunch loyal companion. Afzal Tarar did not switch sides with the change of political climate. He was an honest person who believed in treading on the right path along with serving the humanity. His invaluable services rendered for the country, nation and political party would be remembered for long.,” the chief minister added.
