DC and Zebra Comics to bring African Joker to DC's "Joker: The World" Anthology
Zebra Comics, a leading African comic publisher, joins forces with DC Comics for a groundbreaking story in the upcoming “Joker: The World” anthology.
This collaboration marks the first time the Joker will be featured in a tale crafted by an all-African creative team, specifically tailored for a local audience.
The “Joker: The World” anthology features various interpretations of the infamous DC supervillain by creators and publishers across the globe.
Zebra Comics' contribution, titled “Black Therapy,” will be written by Dr. Ejob Gaius and illustrated by Bertrand Mbozo'o Zeh.
Set against the backdrop of Cameroon, “Black Therapy” promises a fresh perspective on the Joker's characteristic chaos, all within the context of Central Africa.
This venture is a significant milestone for African representation in the comic book industry, according to Ejob Nathanael Ejob, CEO of Zebra Comics PLC.
He stated, “We are immensely proud to pioneer this endeavor, introducing a new and original version of The Joker to a worldwide audience, while showcasing the unparalleled talent and creativity of African storytellers.”
Scheduled for release on September 17, 2024, “Joker: The World” will be available on the Zebra Comics app and website, as well as participating comic book stores, bookstores, and major retailers around the world.
