Britney Spears and Jamie Spears have reached a settlement in their ongoing legal dispute over fees stemming from the singer's controversial conservatorship. The agreement, reached on April 25 in Los Angeles Superior Court, involves an undisclosed sum.

Both parties' attorneys confirmed the settlement to PEOPLE. Mathew S. Rosengart, Spears' attorney, emphasized her complete freedom following the settlement and the end of her conservatorship in November 2021. Jamie Spears' attorney, Alex Weingarten, expressed Jamie's relief at the resolution and his enduring love for his daughter, while hinting at external influences prolonging the dispute.

The settlement averts a trial, initially scheduled for May, which would have delved into allegations of financial misconduct leveled against Jamie Spears during his time as conservator. The conservatorship, established in 2008, gave Jamie Spears significant control over his daughter's life. He was removed as conservator in September 2021, and the arrangement was fully terminated two months later.

In December 2021, Jamie Spears sought court approval for over $2 million in fees paid to various law firms during the legal battle and continued payment for his current legal representation.
