CJ calls for allotting new building for federal courts

KARACHI:

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa has expressed his intention to allocate the new building of Karachi Registry, under construction involving a cost of Rs6 billion, for federal courts.

He was speaking at a luncheon, hosted in his honour by the Supreme Court Bar Association. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, bar association officials and lawyers leaders were also present.

Talking to the lawyers, the CJ said that the job of the lawyer is to explain the case, sometimes the case is understood on the video link and sometimes not because of poor internet connection. He said that single bonus has been given to the employees of the Supreme Court to save money and spend it on the improvement of courts and video link.

The CJ said that he and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail were in the building committee for a meeting committee. It was decided that it was not worth wasting public resources. Instead of the new building, as many federal tribunals and federal courts as there are 36 in Karachi should be built together. This matter will be considered in the meeting. The CJ has said that trees should also be planted in the place leftover to eliminate pollution.

CJ further said that the land reserved for the Supreme Court is valuable. The High Court is also in front, the lawyers will not have any problem.

Later, bar officials presented Ajarak and Sindhi cap to the CJ.

Court Reporters Association President Liaquat Ali Rana requested the Chief Justice to allocate seating for reporters come here for reporting.
