Peoples Bus Service launched in Mirpurkhas

Senior minister says facility will soon be introduced in all districts across Sindh

Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Mass Transit, Excise and Taxation, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Saturday inaugurated the Peoples Bus Service in Mirpurkhas.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister highlighted the dedicated efforts of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its leaders in ensuring affordable and convenient travel facilities for the public. “The service was introduced keeing in view the rising inflation and the increasing costs of petrol and diesel,” he said.

“Today is a momentous day for the people of Mirpurkhas as their longstanding transport issue has been resolved,” Sharjeel said abd attributed the success of the initiative to the collaborative efforts of the PPP and the Sindh government.

Sharjeel expressed his optimism that the Peoples Bus Service would soon be accessible in every district of the priovince. He specifically mentioned the initiative of launching Pink Bus, exclusively for woman in Karachi, a unique facility that not available even in many countries.

The minister further disclosed plans to expand the Pink Bus Service to two new routes. He added that plans are underway to launch orange and yellow bus services, and inter-city bus services this year for the convenience of general public.

Memon said that the PPP government is currently undertaking the construction of 2.1 million houses for the flood victims in Sindh, while free food and ration were also distributed to the flood victims.

Present on the occasion, Sindh Minister for Social Welfare, Mir Tariq Talpur, stated that PPP has bestowed a remarkable present upon the residents of Mirpurkhas by initiating the commuting service. Mirpurkhas Mayor, Abdul Rauf Ghori, expressed his gratitude to the Sindh government for their dedicated efforts in improving and making travel more affordable for the citizens of Mirpurkhas.

He urged the provincial government to launch Pink Bus Service ob Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad route. He highlighted that the intra-city bus service has already commenced in the initial phase. Ghori stressed the importance of providing a bus transport facility for people requiring travel outside the city.
