SHC disposes of plea regarding Haleem’s arrest
The Sindh High Court disposed of the petition regarding the arrest of Sindh president of Tehreek-e-Insaf Haleem Adil Sheikh and new cases against him.
The inspector general of prisons appeared in the court. He stated that Haleem Adil Sheikh has been released and as he is no longer in jail, the petition may be dismissed. The court dismissed the petition as ineffective.
It was argued in the petition that the court had ordered that Haleem should not be arrested without a court order. The Supreme Court has been requested to direct the execution of these orders.
Missing persons
The Sindh High Court has ordered to speed up efforts to recover the missing persons. A two-member bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto heard the petition on the recovery requests of 13 missing persons, including Muhammad Hanif Baloo.
DIG south, the concerned police, the focal person of the home department and the public prosecutor appeared in the court.
The mother of the missing citizen said that her son Hanif was picked up by 'policemen in plain clothes' from Abdullah Goth area a year ago. In the old case of 2020, he was arrested and transferred to jail.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that Hanif was forcibly disappeared from the jail in February 2024. It is feared that the police might kill or might have killed Hanif in a fake encounter. The court is requested to order the authorities to recover him immediately.
Justice Phulpoto expressed his anger on the police officers and others and ordered to recover and produce Hanif at the next hearing.
Justice Phulpoto remarked that the DIG should speed up the recovery of the missing persons. People are worried.
The DIG said that the police were trying to recover the missing persons.
The court adjourned the hearing for four weeks ordering the SSP and others to speed up recovery efforts.
