'Extortion accused did not die in Darakhshan lockup'

Inquiry reveals SP Nayar shifted him to an unknown place where he was subjected to the worst torture

The accused named Moiz Naeem, who was picked up by Darakhshan police in an extortion case, did not die in the lockup of Darakhshan police station, the investigation report revealed.

According to the sources, Moiz was taken into custody on former SP Nayarul Haq's order and later handed over to SP Clifton. Nayar-ul-Haq shifted Moiz to an unknown place where he was subjected to the worst torture.

Former SP Nayar-ul-Haq is directly involved in the incident, sources said, adding, that Nayarul Haq has neither appeared before the inquiry committee nor recorded his statement. However, SHO Derakhshan Ali Raza Laghari and Head Muharar Faisal Ahmed have recorded their statements clarifying all the facts and details related to the incident.

Police sources said that since the incident, all phone numbers of SP Clifton Nayarul Haq have been switched off. SP Clifton is absconding to avoid inquiry. Raids are being conducted to arrest him.

Police sources said that the preliminary medical report of the accused Moiz has also come out, which stated that the accused Moiz was subjected to the worst torture as a result he died.

Police sources said several cheque bounce cases have been registered against the accused Moiz in different police stations.

The inquiry committee on Thursday prepared its report and submitted it to the higher police authorities.
