RAWALPINDI:

Despite the opening of wholesale markets including vegetable and fruit markets, the prices of vegetables, fruits and chicken did not decrease.

Yesterday (Sunday), tomatoes were sold for Rs600 per kg in Rawalpindi and Rs750 per kg in Islamabad. These prices were associated to the absence of tomato trucks which would regularly arrive with a fresh load of the fruit but did not owing to holidays.

With the arrival of ten trucks of tomatoes today at the market, the prices are likely to decrease. The holidays of price control magistrates have also ended and they are expected to reach the markets to check and enforce approved rates from today (Monday).
