Younus advised to approach PCB at Lord’s

KARACHI: Younus Khan has been given another chance to extend his Pakistan career after advised to approach the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt in order to get the required clearance.

Younus was ignored for the England tour because of bitter relations with the PCB chief who blocked his entry in the team citing indiscipline and poor performance.

Following the omission, the PCB announced that it will issue a show-cause notice to Younus despite his ‘indefinite’ ban being overturned by the one-man tribunal. The board, however, has not sent any notice to Younus and, according to its legal adviser, is waiting for the chairman to return before taking any action but has not stopped short of giving him signals for reconciliation.

According to a PCB official, Younus, who is already in England representing Surrey, has a good chance to clear things with the board during the first Test against Australia that starts from July 13 at Lord’s.

“The chairman would be at Lord’s during the first Test for a series of meeting with the England and Wales Cricket Board and Younus can have a direct meeting with him during the match to sort out the differences,” the official told The Express Tribune before adding that the chairman would consider his request like he did with appeals from other players who either got their bans and fines lifted or reduced.

The official hinted that Younus may get an instant go-ahead for the national team since the PCB’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi will also be with the chairman at Lord’s.
