ECP seeks parties’ polls expenses by 22nd

Commission warns that it has authority to withdraw electoral symbols of political parties that do not comply

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday directed political parties to present their details of the expenditures they had spent on the general elections in February this year and reveal their list of donors by April 22.

In a news statement, the commission notified that all political parties, which had participated in the general elections 2024, were required under Section 211 of the Elections Act, 2017 and Rule 161 of the Election Rules to submit to the ECP the details of expenses and donations -- equal to and exceeding Rs1million -- within 60 days of the issuance of the notification of their successful candidates.

It added that the political parties should submit these details on Form 68 to ECP Islamabad by April 22.

Otherwise, the ECP warned that it had the authority to withdraw the electoral symbols of these political parties.
