A policeman was martyred, and 15 people, including three cops, were injured in a blast in Kuchlak tehsil of Quetta district on Monday evening.

Tragedy struck during Maghrib prayer in Kachlak village, Katir, as an explosion ripped through a mosque, claiming the life of an officer from the esteemed Eagle Squad, a police source said.

The incident left 15 individuals injured, including three members of the security personnel. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The police swiftly cordoned off the area, intensifying security measures to maintain public safety and facilitate the ongoing investigation.

A large number of people of the area also gathered at the site of the explosion.

The bomb disposal squad immediately mobilised to the site to conduct a thorough investigation, aiming to gather crucial evidence.

As authorities continue to probe the nature and cause of the blast, the community remained on edge, grappling with the shock and grief brought about by the tragic incident.

Balochistan Chief Minister of Mir Sarfaraz Bugti ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the occurrence.

He directed the law enforcement agencies to submit a detailed report, emphasising the urgency of uncovering the circumstances behind the blast. “We will bring the perpetrators to book,” Bugti said.
