Amid swirling rumours on social media, actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to address and dismiss claims suggesting her consumption of beef. The outspoken Bollywood personality emphasised her adherence to a yogic and Ayurvedic lifestyle, vehemently denying the baseless allegations circulating online.

In a recent tweet, Ranaut asserted, “I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me, I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them."

The clarification from Ranaut comes in response to the resurfacing of an old tweet from 2019, which some individuals used to propagate a narrative about her dietary habits. The tweet in question, written in the third person, described Ranaut's transition to vegetarianism and her commitment to a yogic lifestyle. It said, "There is nothing wrong with eating beef or eating any other meat. It's not about religion! It's not a hidden fact that Kangana turned vegetarian eight years ago and chose to be a yogi. She still doesn't believe in just one religion. On the contrary, her brother eats meat.” However, the actor categorically denied the sentiments expressed in the old tweet, emphasising that her personal beliefs align with the principles of Hinduism.

Ranaut, who recently entered the political arena as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, utilised her platform to address the misinformation. She held a roadshow in the city as part of her campaign efforts for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, rallying support from constituents and reaffirming her commitment to representing the interests of the people of Mandi.

Reflecting on her journey in the film industry, Ranaut highlighted the challenges she faced as an outsider, particularly due to her regional background and language proficiency. Despite facing adversity, she expressed pride in her roots in Mandi and stressed her unwavering determination to succeed in the face of adversity.

With her last cinematic outing in Tejas, and her upcoming directorial venture Emergency, based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Ranaut continues to make waves in both the entertainment industry and the political arena.
