Today, actors Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed are known as one of the most-loved showbiz couples, but during a recent appearance on Zabardast, Sunita revealed that their relationship had a rocky start.

Exuding a sense of calmness and self-control, Sunita detailed how her Catholic family had initially been opposed to her marrying outside their faith.

“I told my parents we wanted to get married, and they weren’t agreeing to it at all,” recalled the Pinjra star. “There came a time when I told myself that I couldn’t go ahead with this if they weren’t happy with it, so I made the decision to visit them in England, where they were at the time. I ended up staying for three months trying to convince them.”

Fortunately for the couple, Sunita succeeded in winning her family over, and it was only then that she and Hassan agreed to tie the knot. A firm believer of a marriage being a union between two families, Sunita underscored her staunch family values by making it clear that she would never have gone against her parents’ wishes had they not accepted the match.

“I was never going to elope,” she said. “That is not something I believe in.”

With her family’s blessing, Sunita and Hassan went on to have a son and a daughter in a loving marriage, and are set to celebrate their sixteenth wedding anniversary later this year. Sunita attributes the milestone to the kind and affectionate nature of her husband, and her own cool-tempered approach to life.

“Hassan loves me, he looks after me, and he does everything I say,” said Sunita. “And me, I never get angry about anything.”

In an industry known for tearing apart relationships, Sunita and Hassan continue to enjoy a solid bond in the face of their joint and individual accomplishments, having even starred opposite one another in popular drama, Baby Baji.
