ECP notifies 37 Senate polls winners

Elections for 11 seats from K-P were postponed

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday officially notified the success of 37 candidates for Senate seats -- the polls for which were held on April 2.

The original number of vacant seats was 48 but the elections for the 11 upper house seats from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were postponed.

A total of 10 PPP senators, MQM-P’s Amir Wali Uddin Chishti and independent candidate Faisal Vawda were notified as successful from Sindh.

PPP’s Masroor Ahsan, Dost Ali Jaiser, Ashraf Jatoi, Syed Kazim Ali Shah, and Nadeem Bhutto have been notified as general seats senators from Sindh.

The party’s Quratulain Marri and Rubina Qaimkhani have been notified as successful for the reserved seats for women from the province. PPP’s Sarmad Ali and Barrister Zamir Ghumro were notified as successful for the two technocrat seats from Sindh.

Similarly, Poonjomal Bheel of the PPP was notified as the winner for the reserved seat for religious minorities from the province.

From Punjab, the notified general seat senators included PML-N’s Ahad Cheema, Pervaiz Rasheed, Nasir Mehmood, Ahmad Khan, and Talal Chaudhry; Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Hamid Khan, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) chief Raja Nasir Abbas; and Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi running in an independent capacity.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Federal Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik were notified as successful for the two technocrat seats from Punjab.

Similarly, Anusha Rehman and Bushra Anjum Butt of the PML-N were notified as winners for the two reserved seats for women from the province.

PML-N’s Khalil Tahir Sindh was notified as successful for the reserved seat for minorities from Punjab.
From Balochistan, the notified successful general seat senators included former caretaker premier Anwarul Haq Kakar who contested as an independent; ANP’s Aimal Wali, PML-N’s Syedal Khan Nasar and Shahzaib Durrani; PPP’s Sardar Umar Gorgage , Jan Muhammad Buledi of the NP, and Ahmed Khan Khilji of the JUI-F.

On the technocrat seats, JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Wasay and PPP's Bilal Mandokhel were notified as winners.

Similarly, PPP’s Hasna Bano and PML-N’s Rahat Jamali were notified as winners for the reserved seats for women from Balochistan.
