Brad Pitt has been in the spotlight due to recent allegations made by his wife. While the couple engaged in a legal battle, Pitt disclosed in 2022 that he has Prosopagnosia. Here are the details on the actor's rare condition.
What is Prosopagnosia?
Prosopagnosia is a neurological disorder that can cause people to have difficulty recognising even family members or friends, according to the National Institute of Health.
It's only face blindness, not colour blindness or overall visual impairment.
Brad Pitt’s experience
Although he has not been officially diagnosed, Pitt, 58, said to GQ magazine that he believes he has it. “Nobody believes me!” he said.
In 2013, he told Esquire that his inability to recognise people’s faces had become so severe that he often wanted to isolate himself as a result.
“That’s why I stay home,” he said.
Pitt mentioned that he wants to remember the people he meets and fears he gives people the impression he’s aloof.
Can it be treated?
There is no treatment for the condition, according to the Times. But there are ways to manage it.
People with Prosopagnosia often focus on features like hair colour, walking style or voices to tell people apart.
