The suspect who allegedly raped a minor boy while he was observing Itikaf in Muzaffargarh has been arrested, the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) said on Thursday.

In a Facebook post, the NCRC said the suspect was taken into custody by the local police. “Taking cognisance of the case, NCRC followed up with the district police office Muzaffargarh and it has been informed that the culprit has been arrested."

The NCRC assured that it would “ensure that justice prevails and the perpetrator is held accountable”.

The 13-year-old boy was observing Itikaf when another individual, who was also observing Itikaf, allegedly raped him. The suspect reportedly managed to escape after the incident and the mosque iman claimed he was threatened with dire consequences.

A medical examination of the survivor was then conducted, with local police assuring that the suspect would be arrested soon.

Earlier, a grade III student seeking medical help was allegedly sexually assaulted by a quack at a local clinic in Chah Sewewala Makhan Chowk.

The young student, experiencing tooth pain, visited a nearby clinic where Dr Zafar Bhakkal administered treatment, including an injection. Exploiting her vulnerability, the doctor sexually assaulted her while she was alone.

A week later, the student's worsening pain led her to confide in her mother, Samira Bibi, who promptly reported the incident to the Saddar Police.

The accused was arrested, and Deputy District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Raza took action by sealing the quack clinic.
