The construction watchdog, Sindh Building Control Authority has taken departmental action against its 21 officers.

On the orders of Director General (DG) Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Abdul Rasheed Solangi, 21 officers were issued show cause notices for failing to stop illegal constructions and not taking action.

The said officers during 2022 had allowed construction of a three-storey building in North Nazimabad without the mandatory approval of the map and building plan.

These officers include deputy directors Syed Owais Hussain, Abdul Amir Khan and Zargham Haider along with other officers.

In this matter, the DG has appointed Additional Director General Samit Ali Khan as the investigation officer and directed him to submit report against all the concerned officers within 15 days.

It should be noted that all efforts will be made by the Provincial Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani on the zero tolerance policy against illegal constructions to ensure the elimination of illegal constructions and discourage negative activities in the future. While in this context, in the light of the orders of the Minister of Local Government, all the officers have been instructed that no negligence will be tolerated in the rampant illegal constructions that lead to the destruction of the city's infrastructure.
