Prince Harry will have "some explaining" to do if he skips Invictus Games: royal expert

Scheduled for next month, the Duke of Sussex is expected to participate in the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games.

His involvement includes delivering a speech at a special service hosted at St. Paul's Cathedral on May 8.

According to reports from InStyle, insiders close to the royal family reveal that Meghan's attendance remains unconfirmed. The prospect of returning to the UK appears to cause some apprehension for her, leading to speculation that Harry might attend the event solo.

Sources cited by The Express emphasise the secrecy surrounding the event's specifics. While both Harry and Meghan are listed as potential guests, uncertainties persist. Meghan's attendance status is marked as "to be confirmed."

Furthermore, insiders suggest that the attendance of their children depends on Meghan's decision to join the event in the UK.

Royal commentator Tom Quinn shared insights with the Mirror, suggesting that Harry's participation in the Invictus Games is highly anticipated, given his instrumental role in its creation.

However, Quinn underscores the potential scrutiny Harry may face if he opts out, particularly regarding his strained relationship with Prince William.

The author said: "If he decides not to come, it will take some explaining, because everyone will assume it's because he doesn't want the awkwardness of having to meet his brother or having to choose not to meet him."

The ongoing estrangement between Harry and William has been well-documented, with Harry failing to reunite with his brother during his visit to the UK in February.
