Kate Middleton's video announcement of her cancer diagnosis has prompted an outpouring of support from the public and within the royal family.

King Charles III and Sarah Ferguson, who are also battling cancer, have publicly expressed well-wishes for the Princess of Wales.

"It is a message from the princess about her health, and she wanted to personally deliver the message on her own," a palace source told PEOPLE magazine.

Prince William has been steadfast in his support, says the insider: "William is extremely proud of his wife for the courage and strength she has shown not just this week but since her surgery in January. Now more than ever, he’s focused on ensuring his wife has the privacy she needs to fully recover and that his children are shielded from the understandable interest in the news that has been shared."

The decision to release a solo video was carefully considered. "She and the prince needed time to process the news, she needed time to recover from surgery and she needed time to tell the children. That was the driving force," the source explains.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were on Easter break when the video was released, allowing the family private time together.

The children remain at the forefront of the couple's thoughts: "William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," Princess Kate said in her address.

Highlighting Kate's resilience, she continued, "As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."

The Wales family will prioritise privacy in the coming weeks, opting out of the Easter service at St. George's Chapel. Prince William plans to keep his schedule light until his children return to school, reflecting the couple's commitment to family time during school breaks.
