The business of mainpuri and gutka continues with the patronage of police throughout the district of Matiari.
Police allegedly receive bribe from the operators and close eyes to the illegal trade in small and big towns of the district.
Moreover, raw liquor, drugs and opium are also being traded in the area. Hundreds of young people have suffered from dangerous diseases while dozens have died.
According to sources, police do not take any action as the operators allegedly grease their palms on weekly basis. The civil society of Matiari district has demanded of the IG Sindh and DIG Hyderabad to take action.
