SHC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary Sindh and Secretary Health seeking their replies against a petition demanding permanent appointment of contract health workers recruited as Covid vaccinators.
The petitions filed by the temporary workers belonging to different districts of Sindh were heard before a two-member bench headed by Justice Junaid Ghaffar.
Zia Awan Advocate, representing the petitioners, stated that the vaccinators were given training and had been serving for more than three years, but the provincial government announced new recruitments while ignoring trained vaccinators. Instead of hiring new contractual workers, the health department should make the Covid vaccinators permanent. The court issued notices to the chief secretary and health secretary, directing them to respond within six weeks
