Emmet Walsh, actor from ‘Blood Simple,’ ‘Blade Runner,’ dies aged 88

The actor's five-decades long film/TV career included work in 119 feature films and more than 250 TV productions.

Veteran character actor M. Emmet Walsh, known for roles in Blade Runner, Knives Out, and Coen brothers films, has passed away aged 88 years in Vermont. 

He began his film career in 1969 with a role in "Alice's Restaurant", and went on to play memorable characters like a sportswriter in Slap Shot and the LAPD captain in Blade Runner.

Prior to his film debut he had worked exclusively on the stage for a decade.

His five-decades long film/TV career spanned across several genres with a body of work that included 119 feature films and more than 250 television productions.

The actor's manager, Sandy Joseph, stated the cause of death was cardiac arrest. He is survived by a niece and a nephew and two grand nephews.
