Mohajir Qaumi Movement Chairman, Afaq Ahmed, has drawn attention to the proliferation of dastarkhwan [food distribution setups] in various locations and the rise of illegal settlements on the streets, asserting that they are interconnected issues.
He criticised the unauthorised administration for disrupting the city's infrastructure by relocating people from rural areas and establishing illegal settlements under the guise of governmental support.
He believes that the provision of food setups in the streets, coupled with illegal settlements and the proliferation of street vendors, encourage non-locals to encroach upon the city. Calling for philanthropists to diligently identify deserving persons and allocate resources accordingly, Afaq Ahmed emphasises the importance of ensuring that Zakat funds are utilised effectively.
He pledges that his party will seek to gain political power through public support and vows to bring all illegal residences and businesses, including slums and street vendors, under legal scrutiny to safeguard the interests of local residents and traders.
