RAWALPINDI:

PTI founder Imran Khan hailed on Tuesday President Arif Alvi's decision to not summon the National Assembly session and said that despite winning the elections, the PTI is being denied its due share of reserved seats.

In a media talk at Adiala jail, the former prime minister said, “There is no greater theft than stealing the public's mandate, they are the same some who opposed the FATF legislation and demanded the closure of their cases.”

When asked about the letter to the IMF, Imran said he could not write anything and dispatch from jail, hence, he had dictated the letter written to the international financial body.

"The letter will be sent after today's meeting," said Imran.

He elaborated that the purpose of the letter is to inform the IMF that the country can not achieve economic stability with political stability.

“The whole nation says the elections were rigged, a party which secured only 20 seats will have their prime minister. The entire nation stood against the mafia on February 8. The chief election commissioner must resign as he did not provide PTI with a level playing field. Even the caretaker government is working against my party, and the ECP is still busy rigging the results leaving us with no hope in the system,” said Imran.

Backing President Alvi’s rejection of the summary to summon the NA session, Imran said “The president did right by not calling the session, PTI has won but specific seats are not being allotted to the party”.

“Every effort was made to dismantle PTI, May 9 was used as a tactic against my party," said the PTI founder and added that oppression did not destroy PTI but made it the most popular party of Pakistan.

Answering a question regarding his earlier statements of calling JUI chief Fazlur Rehman ‘diesel’ and Mehmood Khan Achakzai ‘traitor’, the former PM said: “We are against PML-N, PPP and MQM who were forcefully declared winners through rigging.”

Imran added that PTI is joining all parties which were a victim of poll fraud, and will protest against election rigging across the country.
