A picture of a cackling Prince William and BAFTA Award women nominees recently made rounds on social media. In the said picture, we see the British Royal having a laugh while the standing actors look on rather confused. The picture was taken when William, the president of the BAFTAs, met the rising star nominees and congratulated them on getting the nod for their respective roles in their ventures.

As per the Mirror, he went on to congratulate winner Mia McKenna-Bruce seemed to have been enjoying her role in How To Have Sex. The royal went on to add how the winner must have 'fun' throughout the film without knowing the harrowing story of How To Have Sex.

“Honestly, like, the category was so strong with all of you,” he told the Rising Star nominees. “It’s like, who is gonna, like, pull this off. It’s incredible. It’s very close between all of you.”

He then admitted to winner Mia McKenna-Bruce that he hadn’t watched How to Have Sex, the film she stars in. “I think it looked like you had a lot of fun all the way through,” he told her. Some have pointed out that it’s hardly a laugh a minute for Mckenna-Bruce’s character, who gets sexually assaulted twice in the film. “It is incredible,” he concluded sagely, “it is a very, very strong year for like, categories.”

Mia, who has described the movie as a must-see for "young people in particular who are at this point in their lives of self-discovery", urged William to watch it. He clarified that he had "got a lot of films to catch up on".

The Prince explained, "Normally I get quite ahead of the awards ceremony, I get to see quite a few of them. I haven't managed to get that many through [this time]." He also praised the Rising Star nominees, adding, "The category was so strong, all of you - it was like, 'Who is going to pull this off?' It was very close between all of you."

William's presence at the event was an impromptu solo appearance, as Kate, who typically accompanies him to engagements, remained at home to focus on her recovery from surgery. He expressed regrets to the organizers for her absence, mentioning, "I am sorry Catherine's not here; she does love the BAFTAs."

On another note, How To Have Sex made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and has garnered significant acclaim since then. The film, for which Mia received the EE Rising Star award, delves into the harrowing narrative of sexual assault.

Mia had previously provided insights into the plot of the movie, "There's a kind of expectation that you should just know what to do when it comes to losing your virginity or talking about consent, then you're just left to figure it out on your own."
