Minister unveiled new web portal, marking milestone in making region's archaeological endeavours accessible to public

The Sindh government has launched a pioneering initiative in archaeological research titled "Scientific Laboratory of Exploration and Excavation Branch".

During the inauguration ceremony the Sindh Minister for Culture, Antiquities Archives, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah underscored the significance of the laboratory, stating that the research is a groundbreaking initiative in archaeological research by the Sindh government.

He said that the Sindh government is committed to advancing archaeological methodologies by integrating cutting-edge technologies. These advancements aim to enhance artefact analysis, preservation, and chemical testing in a controlled environment.

Dr Shah commended the relentless dedication and teamwork of Mr Roshan Ali Kanasro, Resident Director of Planning and Development Works of the Culture Department, for his pivotal role in establishing the research.

Moreover, the minister unveiled a new web portal, marking a significant milestone in making the region's rich archaeological endeavours accessible to the public.

The online platform will provide access to a wealth of research papers and meticulously compiled field diaries, shedding light on the daily activities, observations, and findings during archaeological expeditions.

Antiquities Director General Mr Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, highlighted the portal's role in preserving the heritage of the Indus Valley Civilization by digitising artefact details from various archaeological sites.
