Police says incident took place during wedding ceremony

A man was killed in jubilation fire at a wedding ceremony in Kharala Hamlet locality of Attock on Sunday.

The Fateh Jang police said the incident took place during a marriage ceremony when Riasat Ali, the brother of groom Sabir Ali, fired celebration shots.

Unfortunately, Jawwad Ali, who was present at the ceremony, was hit by a bullet fired by Riasat. The injured was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his wound.

Meanwhile, a local court in Taxila on Saturday sentenced Sana Ullah, a murder suspect, to life in prison and Rs0.8 million fine for shooting and killing one Safdar in February 2023.

The accused was earlier booked in a property feud that led to the killing.

Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) inserted in the First Information Report (FIR) were utilised to charge the defendants.

The murder suspect was apprehend after a week-long manhunt.

The prosecution produced a wealth of evidence during the trial that proved Sana Ullah was responsible for the murder.

An elderly woman and her 35-year-old daughter suffered severe burns after gas heater leakage sparked fire at a house in the People's Colony in Attock on early Sunday.
