11 terror suspects netted in Punjab

Dept conducts 135 IBOs in different districts of province in which 135 suspects were interrogated

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab foiled a major terror plot by arresting 11 terror suspects linked with banned outfits during operations in different areas of the province on Saturday. According to a CTD spokesman, the Department conducted 135 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different districts of the province in which 135 suspects were interrogated and 11 terror suspects were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.

The arrested suspects were identified as Gul Shadeen, Kazim, Muhammad Nawab, Sibghatullah, Muhammad Osama Farooq, Ejaz Ahmed, Zaheer, Mustafa Khan, Rasool Khan, Shahzad, Akhtar Hussain and Muhammad Ejaz, who allegedly belong to banned organizations including Daesh, Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The spokesman added that these suspects were detained during IBOs in Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Narwal, Jhang, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

The spokesman added that the suspects had planned acts of sabotage across the province and wanted to target important installations. Police have registered 10 cases against the suspects.
