KARACHI:

A suspect was killed and four others including a member of Lyari gang war were apprehended in injured condition after alleged encounters by the Docks police, Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC), Kalri, and Jamshed Quarters police in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

The AVLC police, during an alleged encounter, killed an ‘outlaw’ in Noor Muhammad Goth within Superhighway police limits.

The dead suspect was identified as Ali Nawaz. Police recovered a pistol, mobile phone, cash, and a car.

Docks police detained a wounded suspect, Gul Bahar Khan alias Gopal, after a shootout near Islami Kanta in Machar Colony and shifted him to the Civil Hospital.

The police recovered a pistol, mobile phone, cash, and a motorcycle from Gul Bahar Khan. His associate, however, managed to escape.

The Kalri police engaged in an exchange of fire with Lyari gang war operatives from the Jameel Chhanga group near Mauripur Road. One suspect Anwar alias Kojak was arrested in an injured condition. The police claimed the recovery of a pistol, live rounds, mobile phone, and cash from him.

His accomplices managed to escape amidst the gunfire.

Similarly, Jamshed Quarters police arrested two injured dacoits after an alleged encounter near Jahangir Road. The apprehended individuals, identified as Muzamil and Wamiq, were shifted to the Civil Hospital.

Police recovered two pistols with live rounds, mobile phones, and cash from the detained suspects.
