Pakistan embassy explores synergies with BUCIC for digital city development

BEIJING:

A delegation headed by Aslam Chaudhary, the Economic Minister of the Pakistan Embassy in China, visited Beijing Urban Construction Intelligent Control (BUCIC) on January 18th, solidifying efforts to boost bilateral cooperation in digital city development.

During the visit, the delegation explored BUCIC’s cutting-edge facilities, including the Digital Experience Centre and the Urban Rail Transit Cloud Intelligent IoT (Internet of Things) Laboratory. Their focus was on BUCIC’s digital transportation and smart city products, with a spotlight on the integrated intelligent control centre. This centre houses various facilities such as station control rooms, customer service centres, fire control rooms, and ticket booths, contributing to intelligent operation and maintenance.

Post-visit discussions delved into topics like the upgrade and renovation of Pakistan’s railway system and the development of the Gwadar Port. Wang Linghong, BUCIC’s CEO, shared updates on the Gwadar New International Airport project led by Beijing Urban Construction Group. “BUCIC, a crucial part of Beijing Urban Construction Group’s technology industrialisation sector, leverages our technological advantages in cloud platforms, big data, and artificial intelligence to provide professional and comprehensive services in digital transportation and urban development for Pakistan, thereby facilitating Pakistan’s digital transformation and upgrade,” stated Wang.

Chaudhary highlighted Pakistan’s active promotion of digitisation and its embrace of new technologies and industries for comprehensive economic and social development. He affirmed, “The Pakistan Embassy in China will continue to provide comprehensive support and assistance to Chinese companies, including BUCIC, in facilitating the implementation of big data projects in Pakistan and promoting cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of smart city construction.”
