Who will win NA-231?

26 candidates, including 16 independents, in the run for one seat

KARACHI:

The National Assembly constituency NA-231 is the third seat of Malir district commonly known as the currency hub because the Pakistan Security Printing Press located here. The printing of ballot papers for the general elections has also been ongoing at the same printing press.

NA-231 comprises Airport Sub Division, Faisal Cantonment, Malir Cantonment, Bhitaiabad, Bakhtawar Goth, Rashidi Goth, PIA Township, Airport, Falaknaz Arcade, T&T Colony, Mora Khan Goth, Tariq Bin Ziad Society, Jinnah Avenue, Khoso Goth, Khokhropar, Malir Cantt, Gharibabad, Chaman Colony, Malir Extension, Muhammad Ammar Yasir, Jafar-e-Tayyar, Musrat Colony, Dawood Brohi Goth, Asu Goth, Gulshan-e-Qadri, Salar Goth, Dar Muhammad Goth, Malir Court, Police Quarters, Jam Goth, Murghi Khana, Khudabad, Quaidabad, Umar Marvi Goth, Green Park City, Swedish Colony, Gulistan Society, Tauheedabad, Haddi Mill, Firdous Chali, Dawood Chali, Future Colony, Moinabad, Muhammad Nagar, Mansehra Colony, Shafi Tannery and other areas.

As many as 26 candidates are in the run for this sea including PPP's Abdul Hakeem Baloch, PML-N's Captain (retd) Jameel Ahmed Khan, Umar Farooq of Jamaat-e-Islami, TLP's Muhammad Ismail Hussaini, Abdul Qayyum of the ANP, Aurangzeb Khan of the GDA, Syed Arif Raza Zaidi of MWM, Muhammad Qasim of the IPP, Tariq Aziz of Rah-e-Haq Party, and 16 independent candidates. Khalid Mehmood Ali of the PTI is one of the independents.

In the past, Abdul Hakeem Baloch has won from this constituency on the tickets of PPP and PML-N. However, Jameel Ahmed Khan of the PTI was elected from the same constituency in the 2018 general elections, and he is currently in the field on the ticket of the PML-N.

The MQM-P has not fielded a candidate here due to the seat adjustment, and JUI is also supporting the PML-N from this constituency. Quaid-e-Azam International Airport and the Racecourse Ground are also situated in NA-231.
