KARACHI:

A quarrel escalated into gunfire shooting on Sunday night near Khan Muhammad Chowk, within the jurisdiction of Ittihad Town Police Station, resulting in the tragic death of two brothers.

The police, responding to the incident, promptly arrived, transporting the victims’ bodies to the civil hospital. SHO Imtiaz Ahmed identified the deceased as Hussain Amin and Farooq Amin. Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting stemmed from a clash between two groups. The victims, employed at a crust manufacturing factory, resided in Khan Muhammad Colony. However, ongoing police inquiries aim to uncover more details.

The heirs of the deceased, protesting on Hub River Road against the incident and demanding the arrest of nominated suspects, staged a sit-in on both tracks, disrupting traffic. Additionally, tires and other items were set on fire. The protest caused severe traffic congestion, with long queues of vehicles. However, after negotiations between leaders of political parties and the police with the protesters, they dispersed peacefully.

In a separate incident, unidentified individuals on motorcycles fatally shot a 19-year-old, Muzzmil, during a robbery attempt late at night at Bismillah Colony, within Mochko Police Station’s limits. SHO Adnan reported that initial findings suggest the shooting occurred during the resistance to the robbery. Investigations into this incident are also ongoing. The city has witnessed five citizens being shot and killed by bandits within fourteen days.
