Amitabh Bachchan buys Ayodhya plot for INR145 million ahead of Ram Temple inauguration
As January 22 nears, many Indian celebrities await the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In anticipation, Bollywood's legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan, has purchased a plot of land in the city, as recently reported by The Hindustan Times. Heralding the city as the “global spiritual capital,” Bachchan will be constructing a residence in Ayodhya.
Bachchan’s secured plot is located in the prestigious 7-star plotted development, The Sarayu, along the Sarayu River in Ayodhya. Developed by Mumbai-based real estate firm The House of Abhinandan Lodha, the project is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and will also be inaugurated on January 22. Reportedly, the actor is said to have invested INR145 million for the acquisition of this “10,000 square feet” piece of land.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the new venture, Bachchan stated, "I am looking forward to embarking on this journey with The House of Abhinandan Lodha for The Sarayu in Ayodhya, a city that holds a special place in my heart." He continued, highlighting the emotional connection he feels with Ayodhya's timeless spirituality and cultural richness that transcends geographical boundaries.
"This is the start of a heartfelt journey into the soul of Ayodhya, where tradition and modernity seamlessly co-exist, creating an emotional tapestry that resonates with me deeply. I am looking forward to building my home in the global spiritual capital," added Bachchan. The housing project is expected to be completed by March 2028.
Bachchan is among several luminaries from the showbiz, politics and business sectors to have been invited to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. Notable personalities like Rajinikanth, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ram Charan, Dipika Chikhalia, Arun Govil, Kangana Ranaut and others are also expected to grace the high-profile event.
The Pran Pratishtha or consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol is expected to commence with a week-long ritual starting January 16. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously urged the nation to celebrate Diwali in their homes on January 22 to coincide with the momentous occasion of the temple’s consecration.
