The Wafa Ka Mausam star had been receiving kidney treatment, as per reports.

From 1970 to 1998, Zaidi remained affiliated to the field of journalism. Besides writing short stories and poetry, he also wrote theatre plays for over a decade.

Despite leaving behind a legacy with a broad spectrum of characters, Zaidi's most notable work to date remains his performance in Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain. The show saw him play a representative of the working class.

Zaidi’s departure adds to the recent string of losses of legendary figures, underscoring the irreplaceable void left in the nation’s cultural landscape.
