RAWALPINDI:

The Pakistan Army soldiers who embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district Lakki Marwat on January 10 were laid to rest on Saturday.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sepoy Muhammad Afzal (29 years old, resident of district Bhimber, Azad Kashmir) and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain (27 years old, resident of district Mansehra) were laid to rest with full military honours in their respective areas.

A large number of senior military officers, soldiers, families of martyrs and locals attended the funeral of the martyred personnel, the ISPR further added.

“Pakistan forces are determined to eliminate the scrouge of terrorism from the motherland at any cost,” the military’s media wing stated.

On January 10, a gun battle took place between security forces and terrorists, in which army troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in the successful neutralisation of two terrorists, Aftab alias Malang and Masood Shah.

Both of these individuals had been actively involved in various terrorist activities against security forces and had been implicated in the target killings of innocent civilians. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from them.

The brave soldiers involved in the operation, Sepoy Muhammad Afzal and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain fought gallantly but tragically embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire, the ISPR had said.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it had maintained.
