Veteran Pakistani actor and director Khalid Butt breathed his last in Lahore due to complications arising from kidney and liver diseases, local news reported Thursday. Sources close to Butt's family said that the actor's funeral prayer would be offered after Asr prayer on Friday.
The renowned star, who began his career in the 1970s and appeared in a large number of Urdu and Punjabi films and television series, was last seen in Faysal Quraishi and Durefishan Saleem's drama serial, Khaie.
Butt kick-started his career as an assistant director and later went on to direct a film as well. He has also worked on several popular television dramas, and films, as well as various theatre plays. Butt has also been awarded the Pride of Performance for his artistic services.
He was seen displaying his acting prowess in PTV productions Jangal Pura (1997), Boota to Toba Tek Singh (1999), and Landa Bazaar (2002).
