PM ensures undisturbed power for Karachi

Need to formulate policies that consider purchasing power of electricity consumers, their welfare

ISLAMABAD:

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar assured on Monday that the government, in collaboration with K-Electric (KE), is committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply to Karachi to meet its needs.

During a meeting with a KE delegation led by CEO Moonis Abdullah Alvi, the prime minister directed the Ministry of Energy to address the challenges faced by the company through mutual consultation. He underscored the need to formulate policies that consider the purchasing power of electricity consumers and their welfare.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the prime minister for resolving long-standing issues faced by KE. They also appreciated the approval of a Rs390 billion investment plan, tariffs for renewable energy projects totalling 640 megawatts, and the provision of an additional 1000MW of electricity, viewing these initiatives as positive messages to investors.
