In a joyous celebration of love and commitment, Ira Khan, the daughter of Bollywood stalwart Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutta, officially embarked on a new chapter of her life as she exchanged vows with her longtime beau, Nupur Shikhare, in a private ceremony held in Mumbai on Wednesday, as reported by multiple Indian media outlets like NDTV and Indian Express.

Adding a touch of uniqueness to the festivities, Nupur chose to forgo the traditional baraat, instead opting for an eight-kilometre jog to the venue with his friends. The groom, displaying exuberance and excitement, danced to dhol beats before entering the venue.

The couple chose an intimate setting for their nuptials, registering their marriage surrounded by close friends and family. A video shared on social media captured the heartfelt moment, portraying Ira in a resplendent traditional ensemble paired with dhoti pants and a net dupatta gracefully draped over her head. On the other hand, Nupur opted for a stylish blue bandhgala. The emotional presence of Aamir and Reena, looking adoringly at the newlyweds, added a touching familial touch to the ceremony.

Kiran Rao, Aamir's ex-wife, joined the celebration and was present on the stage as the couple signed the wedding registration documents, emphasising the harmonious blending of the extended family. Aamir, in a cream-coloured sherwani and a pink turban, radiated paternal pride during this momentous occasion. The family, including Aamir's sons Junaid Khan and Azad, posed together for pictures, creating lasting memories.

While the official registration occurred on Wednesday, reports suggest that the couple plans to host a grand wedding in Udaipur on January 5, followed by a lavish reception in Mumbai after the Rajasthan festivities. The pre-wedding celebrations included a mehendi function hosted by none other than Salman Khan at his residence. Ira had her haldi and mehendi functions on Tuesday, setting the stage for a vibrant and joyous celebration.

Aamir, in an earlier interview with News 18, expressed his anticipation for the big day, acknowledging his emotional nature and the likelihood of shedding tears during the ceremony. He also shared heartwarming sentiments about Nupur, revealing the support he provided to Ira during challenging times.

"On that day, I am going to cry a lot," the actor stated previously. "My family has already started discussing ki bhai Aamir ko sambhalna uss din (Take care of Aamir that day). I am a very emotional person. I can control neither my tears nor my laughter. As the day nears, my emotions will only intensify. I am looking forward to it, as it will be a special moment.”

Talking about the groom, Aamir remarked, "The boy she has chosen for herself, his pet name is Popeye. He is a trainer, his arms are also like Popeye. Otherwise, his name is Nupur. He is a lovely boy. When Ira was suffering from depression, he stood by her side and supported her. He has supported her emotionally. I am happy that she has selected him.”

Ira and Nupur had earlier marked their engagement in November 2022, with Nupur proposing to Ira in Italy in September of the same year. Nupur, a renowned celebrity fitness trainer who has worked with Aamir and Sushmita Sen, has been a steadfast pillar of support for Ira, especially during her struggles with depression.

As the Bollywood fraternity and fans extend their heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds, the union of Ira and Nupur stands as a testament to love, resilience, and the beautiful journey that lies ahead for this newly-married couple. On the professional front, Ira made waves with her directorial debut, a theatrical adaptation of Euripides' Medea, while Nupur continues to make a mark as a distinguished fitness trainer in the industry.
