The Directorate of Customs Intelligence seized a variety of smuggled goods, collectively valued at more than Rs. 6 billion in a series of information-based raids conducted from July to December 2023.
Customs Intelligence Karachi Director, Engineer Habib Ahmed told The Express Tribune that the anti-smuggling campaign, led by Additional Director Afzal Watto and supported by Deputy Director Wasif Malik, Superintendent Irshad Shah, and other officers, have foiled several smuggling bids.

During the aforementioned period, the teams confiscated a range of smuggled items, including auto parts valued at Rs. 2.19 billion, 47 smuggled vehicles worth over Rs83 million, 89 kilograms of smuggled cloth valued at more than Rs440 million, and vehicles used in smuggling worth more than Rs540 million.
Other seized items during this period included electronics products worth Rs 370 million, 260,000 kilograms of unhealthy smuggled betel nut with net worth of Rs340 million, smuggled cigarettes of various foreign brands of Rs170 million, plastic shoppers worth Rs150 million, dry milk worth Rs120 million, smuggled cosmetic products worth Rs 700 million, plastic products worth Rs. 70 million, vapes worth Rs60 mil- lion, Iranian diesel of Rs50 million, dry fruits worth Rs 30 million, crockery worth Rs 20 million, cigars Rs worth 20 million, Indian Gutka worth Rs 20 million, mobile phones worth Rs 10 million, tyre tubes worth Rs 10 million, and miscellaneous items with net worth Rs560 million.
