The Islamabad District Returning Officer (DRO) has issued the final list of candidates after scrutiny of nominations.
A total of 209 candidates submitted their nomination papers for the three constituencies of the National Assembly in Islamabad. The nomination papers of 116 candidates were accepted, while the nomination papers of 93 candidates were rejected.
In particular, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shoaib Shaheen’s nomination papers were rejected from all three constituencies of NA-46, NA-47 and NA-48. However, the nomination papers of PTI leaders Nayab Ali and Syed Ali Bukhari from NA-48 were accepted.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members, Sheikh Ansar Aziz, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry’s nomination as well as Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar’s nomination from NA-48 were also approved.
Similarly, the nomination papers of former Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Raffat and Raja Khurram Nawaz from NA-48 were also approved. Out of 61 nomination papers submitted from NA-48, 39 were approved while 22 were rejected. Jamat-e-Islami (JI) candidate Kashif Chaudhry’s nomination papers were also rejected.
As for NA-47, a total of 75 candidates submitted nomination papers from the constituency.
