KARACHI:

Anees Advocate and Raza Haroon, two prominent leaders from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), formally joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) along with their associates on Friday.

Anees and Haroon, the two former members of the MQM-P Coordination Committee, announced their decision in a crucial meeting with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari in Karachi.

On the occasion, Zardari stated that the PPP's "Charter of Karachi" would have profound and lasting effects on the future of the metropolis. He asserted that the PPP truly represented the people of Karachi, advocating for the restoration of the city's lights that had been dimmed by those opposed to peace, and promoted of discord.

Zardari highlighted that the PPP, after securing power at the Centre with the votes of the Karachiites, would mark the first time the federation was led by a party elected by the people of Karachi.

Zardari said the party's desired to attract global investors to Karachi, transforming it into an economic hub akin to Dubai. Such a transformation, he added, would not only benefit Pakistan but also investors worldwide due to its strategic geographical location.

Zardari also highlighted the 10-point agenda put forth by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at a recent public rally in Garhi Khuda Bux.

He assured that after coming into power, the PPP would initiate welfare projects in Karachi and other cities nationwide, providing much-needed relief to the common man amid the challenges of extreme inflation.
