DC says administration is actively relocating tanneries in Sialkot Tannery Zone under environmental dept

Deputy Commissioner Shah Mir Iqbal announced that ongoing development projects to upgrade district infrastructure will be completed before January 31st. This includes the Wazirabad Road project among others. Similarly, under the Punjab Intermediate Cities Investment Improvement Program (PICIIP), sewerage lines are being laid on four key roads.

The DC expressed these views briefing a 14-member delegation from the 34th senior management course Inland Study Tour on Tuesday. DS National Institute of Management Masood Ahmed, Coordinator-one Naeem Hassan, Coordinator-Two Shahab Hameed, Saima Ahad, Jameel Ahmed Jameel, Syed Ali Imran and Muhammed Khalid comprised the delegation.

The DC said that the district administration was actively relocating tanneries in Sialkot Tannery Zone under the environmental protection department of the Punjab government and so far the construction of 170 tanneries had started in the zone.

The DC added that brick kilns in the area were being adapted to operate on zigzag technology.
