Some 552 candidates have submitted their nomination forms to the Returning Officers in Hyderabad to contest the upcoming general elections on three seats of the National Assembly and six of the Sindh Assembly.
As many as 393 nomination forms have been filed against the six seats of the PS and 159 for the three seats of the NA.
In the 2018 general elections, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) had won two seats of NA and three seats of PS from City and Latifabad talukas.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had emerged successful on one National Assembly and three provincial assembly seats from Qasimabad, Hyderabad and Latifabad. The PPP had also won the LG polls from Hyderabad and got elected the party's mayor, while the MQM-P had boycotted.
The prominent candidates from the two parties include the former legislators Sharjeel Memon, Jam Khan Shoro, Hussain Tariq Shah Jamote, Abdul Jabbar Khan, Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani, Salahuddin, Syed Waseem Hussain, Rashid Khilji, Nasir Qureshi and Dilawar Qureshi, among others.
