PESHAWAR:

PTI’s Senior Vice President Sher Afzal Marwat has officially announced his bid to contest the upcoming elections in Peshawar, submitting his nomination papers for the NA-32 constituency.

The PTI leader’s cousin, Salahuddin, submitted the nomination papers on behalf of Sher Afzal Marwat.

It is pertinent to note that PTI founder Imran Khan clinched victory in NA-32 (now NA-31) by securing over 32,000 votes, triumphing over ANP's Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, supported by the PDM, during the October 2022 by-elections.

Meanwhile, former PAC chairman Noor Alam Khan shifted his allegiance to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar alongside JUI-F's Provincial Amir Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, the ex-National Assembly member officially announced his decision to join the ranks of JUI-F.

Expressing unwavering confidence in JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's leadership, Khan said he deeply admired the Maulana's adept leadership skills.

Reflecting on the timing of his move, Khan stated, "There was a delay, otherwise I would have joined JUI earlier."He also condemned the events of May 9, labelling them as shameful, and emphasised his longstanding opposition to those actions, citing disagreement with the mindset that prompts such riots.

Asserting his stance on the May 9 events, he stressed, "Everyone protests, but institutions should not be targeted."
He further underlined his commitment to upholding Pakistan's integrity, irrespective of his party affiliation, stating, "We are not slaves and will work against any actions that undermine the unity of Pakistan."
