Candidates continue to file nominations

ECP granted two-day extension for filing nominations on MQM-P demand, says Dr Sattar

Candidates for the elections on February 8, 2024, continued to submit nomination papers starting Friday.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) Senior Deputy Convener, Dr Farooq Sattar, submitted his papers for constituencies NA-240 and NA-244, while Deputy Convener Abdul Waseem filed papers for constituency NA-244.

Speaking to the media, Dr Sattar mentioned that in response to MQM-P's demand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted a two-day extension for filing nomination papers. He emphasised that MQM is the only party in the country capable of involving educated youth in politics.

Mustafa Kamal submitted his papers for NA-247 Central. Addressing the media, he stated that MQM is nominating candidates from various constituencies across the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman filed nominations for NA-246 from district west, NA-250, and PS129 from district central.

Speaking on the occasion, Naeem said JI has become the only choice for Karachiites.

Pakistan Muslim League N Vice President, Faisal Nadeem, submitted his nomination papers for NA-235.

He stated that timely elections are essential for the stability of the country. Political parties that emerge during the election season become absent once they are elected.

While submitting nomination papers for NA-238, Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP) leader, Mahmood Maulvi, claimed that more than 50 seats in Sindh will have IPP candidates, and the party will emerge as a prominent party in Karachi.

Meanwhile, a number of candidates from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam also submitted nomination papers from all national and provincial assembly constituencies.
