Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar delivered an address at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on Wednesday, encouraging students to harness their full potential for the country’s economic progress. During his visit, the prime minister inaugurated a newly completed girls’ hostel, financed by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), aimed at providing top-notch accommodation for female students in various engineering and management disciplines at the GIK Institute.
In his interaction with the GIK Institute’s parent body, the Society for Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), the prime minister engaged with President Engr Salim Saifullah Khan, Executive Director Shakil Durrani, Rector GIK Institute Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, pro-rectors, and directors. An interactive session with the students was also part of the visit.
Prime Minister Kakar assured the government’s complete support for any initiatives taken by the GIK Institute to impart quality education. He emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting universities nationwide, praising GIK Institute for its leading role in providing modern knowledge to the country’s youth.

He announced plans for GIK Institute to establish its campus in Islamabad, with full government support for this initiative. He expressed the desire for the institute to establish campuses across the country, ensuring widespread access to contemporary education in every province.
The caretaker Prime Minister pledged federal government support for GIK Institute’s efforts to expand its reach, suggesting a sub-campus in Islamabad or Rawalpindi in the near future. He highlighted the importance of quality education, skill development, and providing a solid platform for youth to enhance their creative contributions to the country’s economy and institutional stability.
In the rapidly changing world, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized that modern knowledge is key to elevating the status of the youth, enabling them to find solutions to complex challenges. The government, he said, has adopted various strategies to unleash the potential of the youth, empowering them to play a vital role in the economic progress and prosperity of the country.
